Kenyan Agents
Founding Agents: Benedict Kiage, Titus Kuria and Charles Omondi
2006

2011

Our Kenyan agents have been selected by our President, Victoria Sheppard, who lived in Nairobi, Kenya for 10 months (August 2005 – May 2006) and worked closely with these individuals on a number of projects in Mathare Valley Slum. Ms. Sheppard has found them to be professional, honest, and competent, and very enthusiastic about this partnership and the great improvement it will allow in the lives of many children in Mathare. They had worked together in the Mathare Community Education and Development Organization (MCEDO) for many years and have the skills and experiences needed to fulfill the role of agents for this project.
Each of the Kenyan agents have signed a Written Agreement to govern their activities with CMETrust.

Benedict Kiage
Benedict Kiage is one of the founding leaders of CMETrust. He lives in Mathare Valley with his family and so has a good understanding of life in the slum. Benedict is the coordinator of Mathare Community Educational and Development Organization in Mathare, which was formed in 2001 and registered by the government. It runs a community school called MCEDO-Beijing School which caters for the needs of orphans and the vulnerable children. The projects undertaken in this organisation include: education, talent promotion i.e. soccer (boys & girls), performing arts, theatre, art gallery among others. Benedict is also responsible for managing the Wood Food Programme School Feeding Programme at MCEDO: ensuring the safe and secure storage of the dry food stuffs, managing the cooks, organizing proper preparation and distribution daily, and keeping accurate books and records. Benedict coordinates all of the activities at MCEDO by networking with relevant organizations to secure funds, mobilize resources for the effective running of this programme.

Titus Kuria
Titus Kuria is one of the founding leaders of CMETrust. He grew up in the Mathare Valley and has a good understanding of what life is like in the slum. Titus, popularly known as Tito, believes that to say life in Mathare is challenging is an understatement. It’s these barriers that he endeavours to alleviate through his contribution and participation in the CMETrust so that the upcoming generations could have an easier access to a better future.
Titus is a professional Neo-Media Designer and runs an online company, Librated Neo-Media, where he is also the Creative Director. The firm specializes in web design/development, corporate identity, e-marketing, graphic and print design among others.
Apart from CMETrust, an organization very close to his heart, Titus is also involved in other community development initiatives in the sprawling slums. He sits in the Board of Mathare Roots Youth Group, a Community Based Organization that exists to create and connect the youth with any emerging empowerment opportunities. As part of the management, he is also involved in the identification and nurturing of talents with Billian Music Family, an organization that promotes community development through arts and targets the talented but vulnerable teenagers.
Throughout his community work, Titus has been very fortunate to have been involved in a myriad of organizations and initiatives; he is a fellow of NairoBits School of Digital Design, an alumnus of InWent gmBH, an envoy with Bayer Young Environmentalist Envoy program, a member of the Action Beyond Limits Network and a trainer with Sambaza Peace initiative.

Charles Omondi
Charles Omondi is one of the founding leaders of CMETrust. He grew up in the Mathare Valley and has a good understanding of what life is like in the slum. In 2008, Charles moved to Ottawa, Canada. Until that point he was involved with a number of education projects in Mathare and volunteered with numerous schools and youth groups, trying to encourage kids to go to school and find the funding to help them do so. He also filled the role of Community Development Leader for Mathare Roots Youth Group. He has formal education in social work, and training in community development, leadership and sports, particularly football, much of which he received through workshops put on by MYSA (Mathare Youth Sports Association). Charles continues to work tirelessly to improve the living conditions and lives of people in Mathare, even from abroad.
