Isaiah Edith (2010)
Isaiah Edith is 19 years old.
As an alumnus I have achieved a lot in education, especially in high school. In high school I got to know my career, of which I’m really working on it. I want to be a certified public secretary in any government posts, like the banks, so as to manage the finance and economy of the country through typing of reports.
For now I am handling a computer study at Maji Mazuri in Mathare, where I access the web and design industry, which is more profitable to the youth.
Being a Mathare resident I help the community in maintaining the environment through clean-ups, that is collecting of garbage around the houses and taking them to the pits. I also join the youth groups to sweep the streets in Mathare in the name of making Mathare an admirable homestead.
After my achievement of which I know I will make, I would give back to the community, especially in Mathare, that is by giving the vulnerable children living in Mathare education skills so that they can also be great people and they can also recognize their responsibilities.
I would also like to be mentored in life, for example by a prominent person in the world.

Omondi Erick Otieno (2010)
My name is Omondi Erick Otieno. I am 21 years old. I completed my primary education in the year 2006.
CMETrust took me as one of the scholars in the year 2007, where they paid my school fees as a high school student until my graduation level – form four, in the year 2010.
Now I have joined fellow alumni in doing community work in our Mathare society. Apart from that, I have had courage to advise fellow youths to abandon their evil characters and to lead a life of virtue.
My big dream is to do computer engineering. I strongly believe that through CMETrust I will achieve my dream. Together with other alumni, I hope, we shall do our level best to ensure that the environment in our Mathare society is upgraded.
I thank the president of CMETrust, Victoria, for ensuring that we have reached this better level and working tirelessly to ensure that we have reached the best level.
My last gratitude goes to the donors who have also shown their concern upon us, wholeheartedly. I strongly pray to God Almighty so that they may continue with the same spirit.
Thank you.

Wambua Rosemary Mueni (2010)
Wambua Rosemary Mueni was born on February 28, 1991, in Mathare. She has one brother and one sister. She completed primary school at Valley View Academy (1998 – 2006) and secondary school at Wiyeta Girls (2007 – 2010). She is currently studying Web and Design Course One at Nairobits (college) in Nairobi. Rosemary’s personal goals are: 1) to join a university and do MBA studies in commerce; 2) to reach the highest peak as a woman; 3) to develop personal skills such as humour, to reduce stress and to feel more confident.
In terms of recreational activities, I am currently in a youth group called Mathare Roots, where we give back to the community by doing clean-ups, sensitizing the youth on dangers of drugs, and tree planting. In terms of my future plans, community wise, I would like to reach out to more people and sensitize them on drug abuse, I would like to mentor as many young people as I can to succeed in life, and above all, I would like to reach out to my community to help them change their mentality and attitude towards life – main target the youth.

Samson Omondi Owino (2010)
Samson Omondi Owino was born in 1991.
I am a Mathare resident and have been there for more than 10 years. I undertook my primary education course in the same place and qualified to go to high school, which proved quite a great challenge.
After several hopeless attempts, CMETrust came in to sponsor my high school education. In 2007, I joined Wang’apala Boys High School for secondary education.
I completed my high school course in 2010, that is Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). It was through the support of CMETrust that I managed to go through this level to the latter.
All along I have been dreaming to end-up as a doctor, in future, at the end of my education. I greatly appreciate the efforts of the CMETrust on me and therefore appeal for support in the post-secondary education. I am optimistic and I hope God will help CMETrust to gather all donors to offer support in order to make my dreams come true.

Eric Okinyi Ayuke (2009)
My name is Eric Okinyi Ayuke, I’m 19 years old as of now. I am a CMETrust alumnus. I did my secondary certificate in the year 2009. I would like to thank the CMETrust body, which includes the donors, president and the Board, for the support they have given me. After my primary education my parents had no funds to push me through to secondary education but thanks to the CMETrust I was able to make it. CMETrust has taught me how to give back to the community by giving a helping hand to anyone who is in need of it, and also how to live and appreciate those around you, something which we were not even taught in school and I’m grateful to that. I would like to pursue a career in law and to also give a helping hand the way I was given, in order to change the lives of my fellow people.

Jacqueline Otieno (2009)
My name is Jacqueline Otieno and I am a graduate of CMETrust organization. I am 21 years of age. I went to MCEDO primary school where I completed my class eight education in the year 2004.
Also I went to the rift valley part of Kenya to study where I joined a girls’ school called Wiyeta Girls secondary school and after four years I completed my studies and came back to the society [Mathare]. When I completed my fourth form I joined a group called Mathare Roots Youth Group that connected me with a nearby college teaching computers. I studies computer for two months and got a certificate in basic computer that include making posters and CD covers.
Joining Roots has been a blessing to me because I have achieved a lot in life, I have led many activities that makes me give back to the community that once brought me up. For instance, I have led a community development programme that deals with home visit and it was a success and that makes me proud of myself. Also, I have participated in community clean-ups and house clean-ups in general.
Now I am involved in a programme that mainly deals with adolescents. First it became a challenge to me because the children were many and I was at one point frustrated, but as I got used to seeing many faces I can now talk to a hall full of adults. The programme makes the adolescents aware of the challenges that they are due to face and what solutions are there for them.
I would also like to study teaching and one day in my life become a teacher and study further to become a lecturer. Also, when I finish my course I would like to help the children of Mathare where necessary and also help the community at large through participating in development projects like clean-ups, tree planting, and also helping the unfortunate children in the community to obtain their long awaited dreams like I was once helped.

Elma Atieno Ojango (2008)
I’m Elma Atieno Ojango, 21 years old. I did my secondary certificate in 2008 in the western part of Kenya, that is a boarding school known as Khwisero Girls Secondary School, through the support of CMETrust.
In 2009 I joined Mathare Roots Youth Group where I got an opportunity to join Nairobits, where I was taught how to use a computer and learned how to make a logo, poster and business card, this is part of web design know as “behind the screen”, and I got a certificate. I also went ahead in the same place and learned more about World Start With Me, which deals with health issues and I got a certificate.
I have also given back to the community through doing various activities such as clean-up, tree planting, watering the trees, and teaching in two schools about adolescent health.
I would like to join Nairobi Aviation [college] to continue with my education and learn more about tour guide, and get a job and come back to my community and help those who are willing to go to secondary school pursue their dreams.
I thank CMETrust donors and my beloved Victoria for how far they have made me because I knew my parent could have not raised me funds to go to school.

Evalyne Auma Kiage (2008)
I am Evalyne Auma Kiage, CMETrust alumnus, aged 21 years old. I completed my secondary education in 2008 in Rift Valley part of Kenya, that is Wiyeta Girls High School, through the support of the CMETrust.
I’m a very creative and social lady, I do like communicating with different people as it helps me know more about the world and life. All this I have achieved through CMETrust body that has raised me up from the ground to the higher level. Being a good listener I am also a good advisor, I tell my opinion and try to do my best to help people.
After my high school I joined Nairobits school of web design, where I learned more about computer and skills in web designing, through the help of Mathare Roots Youth Group, and I attained my certificate. I have also served the community members through volunteering as a teacher for one year.
In the year 2010, I joined Kenya Institute of Social Work and Community Development where I did my certificate in community development and social work, which I have already completed and I’m also looking forward to continue to diploma level in the same course.
Thanks to the CMETrust body and also to the founder who has given me hope and also made me somebody and a respected person in the society.

Irene Oiro (2008)
I’m Irene Oiro. I’m 21 years old, completed my high school in 2008 and am alumnus of the Canada Mathare Education Trust. I have so far managed to do several activities with a youth group called Mathare Roots, which has partnered with CMETrust.
Through Roots I’ve managed to make sure that our environment looks neat by doing community clean-ups in Mathare slums and by planting trees, and these activities are referred to as giving back to the community.
I thank CMETrust because it has managed to bridge a gap for me in life, in that I’ve done a course in journalism and also done computer studies and hopefully in the future will do my degree course in the same journalism through the support of CMETrust.
Thanks to CMETrust for the support throughout the four-year course in high school because I could not have reached this far.

Olvence A. Musa (2008)
Olvence A. Musa was born on December 22, 1989. Her hobbies include socializing and adventures. Her ambition is she is hoping to join university and pursue a doctorate degree in gynaecology, in order to fight for the discriminated women’s health in the society and world at large, since their maternal problems are my concern.
Luckily enough, CMETrust has brought me from a hopeless situation to a hopeful one, whereby I was almost dropping out of school due to lack of school fees, but due to the support which they gave to me I was able to achieve my KCSE certificate. Indeed the whole support has motivated me to the extent of reaching one of my main mission parameters in the future.
At the moment, I am volunteering my teaching skills at MCEDO Beijing School while waiting for another opportunity to further my studies.
